Winning at Windsor once more for Tiar Na Nog
The opening race last evening at a warm Windsor track was the Visit Attheraces.com Fillies Handicap Stakes, where Tiar Na Nog took on eight rivals carrying 9st 11lbs under Oisin Murphy. Sitting last as a good gallop was made, Oisin produced an excellent ride to bring the mare forward and build momentum throughout the home straight. With the ground so much more to her liking than a fortnight previously, Tiar Na Nog was able to move upside and then past the long time leader and well backed favourite, China Horse Club and Mark Johnston's Galileo filly Sapa Inca. The three year old rallied very gamely under Franny Norton inside the last fifty yards, but was unable to pull back the advantage Oisin had earned, and he pushed Tiar Na Nog forward to win on the line by a short head. Una Loughrey and friends were thrilled to mark their second Windsor win and to complete a great day for the Denis Coakley yard.
