Horrible conditions of an unexpected downpour during the preliminaries made yet another factor against a smooth debut for Denis' first two year old runner. Also a near three minute wait in the gate and a wide draw too, meant that Charlie Bishop was having to race keenly in behind several others into the first bend and then started to travel very well down the hill. Wa'Ad looked to be going very well indeed turning in, but traffic on the tight track meant that the Cable Bay filly had to be checked on several occasions before easing into fifth in the last 50 yards. Nevertheless Wa'Ad confirmed that she has the ability to be winning very soon if she gets things going her way. Some pictures from Saturday's debut can be found in the Gallery.
