First six runners out on the tracks
Denis and the team have been busy soon after the resumption of racing, sending out six runners across seven days in some predictably very competitive races. There have been some mixed results - with three going very close and three with more modest outcomes from which they are sure to improve. At Chelmsford on the all weather My Sheila made her racecourse debut and was a little slowly away, so that she faced quite a bit of kick back but once clear of that she ran on nicely up the straight, and she will really come on a lot for the experience - in quite a good maiden race with top yards represented. Party Island had his second all weather race - at Wolverhampton this time - and he saw out the 7 furlongs quite well after a moderate start, so he should progress once he is now given his official rating next week. Sheila's Showcase ran in a mile race at Newbury and travelled nicely to the three, before fading away a little in the closing stages and he will strip a lot fitter next time. At Lingfield both Sonnetina and Sweet Charity ran nicely to finish close up, both beaten under five lengths over seven and ten furlongs respectively. Power Home stepped up in trip at her favoured Wolverhampton tapeta track, and she was only just outpointed by more experienced staying types in the closing stages, losing second on the line to finish third of twelve runners under a great Charlie Bishop ride.
