Return to Bath for Eagles Dare and Sheila's Showcase
For his third run at Bath Eagles Dare stepped into a better grade of Nursery and carried bottom weight under David Egan. He broke better this time and was ridden forward to race in the first four in the first five furlongs, and then from his outside position he moved forward well to go second before the quarter mile post. He then was a little outpaced by closing rivals before seeing out the last furlong well on ground that was very firm on the day. He finished fifth, beaten just under five lengths back from the easy winner and a good bit closer behind two horses he had encountered on earlier visits to Bath. Ray Styles' Sheila's Showcase raced in third place, not chasing the runaway leader who had gone well clear from over half a mile out. Along with the second he closed on the leader approaching the final furlong and jockey David Egan then secured second place behind Viaduct, just over two lengths back at the post. This was a most promising return to action back up to a class 4 race, much more akin to some of the form he had shown last summer.
