Carmenere full of promise on Kempton debut
Carmenere had her first outing in what looked like a good mile race at Kempton Park, and the trainer and owners, the Sparkling Partners, can feel very pleased indeed with the introduction she was given to racing by jockey David Probert. He had the Dawn Approach filly moving fluently in midfield through the first three quarters of the distance, before showing a very good turn of foot as the field approached the cut away into the straight. This effort told on her a little as she got tired inside the final furlong, the front trio kicking clear, but she was only half a dozen lengths back in fifth place come the line, and a step up in trip will be much more to her liking next time. Patience has been the key with this most attractive chesnut filly, and it should hopefully be rewarded as she goes over middle distances in the near future.
