Nell goes nicely first time on turf and handicap debut at Sandown Park
Denis and owner Chris van Hoorn were very pleased indeed with the way that their filly Nell Quickly took to racing on grass at the Esher track yesterday afternoon, readily beating the favourite by moving up the hill well during the final quarter mile. There was one too good for her in the closing stages, however, and she went down by just over a length to a horse of Sir Mark Prescott's that appeared to be very well handicapped off an initial mark of 76 and stepping up considerably in trip to ten furlongs. In a fortnight or so Nell Quickly will take on the same type of race, and hopefully she can return to winning ways.
