Nottinghamshire must be a fortunate county for Chris van Hoorn's mare as she followed up her emphatic hurdles win at Southwell with an impressive handicap win over fourteen fulongs on good ground at Nottingham last Monday. She has been so unlucky in a series of flat races that this was her first win, coming under a very assured ride from Laura Pearson.  She held up Givepeaceachance in midfield, moving forward to third place entering the final furlong. Staying on much the best of the fourteen strong field, she eased clear inside the last hundred yards to win by a length, with almost three further lengths back to an old rival Danking in third place. Having been second, third and fourth in a dozen races the mare was not winning her first flat race out of turn and she appeared to relish getting her head in front for the second time in 2021.

At Windsor an afternoon deluge left the ground heavy in places, which did not suit debutant My Ambition under Hollie Doyle. He dwelt a little from the break and was not able to pick up the field through the six furlong contest, ultimately finishing seventh and beaten a little over seven lengths. With much better ground next time he is expected to come on a lot for the first racecourse experience gained.
