Denis and owner Tony Killoran were very pleased again with a great run from Party Island over an extended mile and three furlongs at Lingfield Park on Wednesday, under regular pilot George Bass. Held up at the back of a field of just four, Party Island moved up well into the last quarter of a mile, but, just as he was coming to challenge, George unfortunately dropped his whip, and the Tagula gelding has a tendency to be a little lazy, so without the timely persuasion he didn't follow through with a telling challenge to press the winner. Nevertheless a close up second, at generous odds, gave cause for great encouragement that he retains his racing ability.
