Golden Phase goes so very close at Lingfield Park
Denis and the owners, West Islley -Platinum, were all really delighted with yet another very impressive run over a mile by their Gustav Klimt filly. She had a fairly wide draw and jockey David Egan opted to give her some cover by taking back early on. Travelling strongly down the hill inside the last half mile Golden Phase was just denied a clear run to take position turning in, so that she had a good deal of ground to make up in the straight. With a really good turn of foot she closed rapidly to pass the whole field bar one, and the post came just too soon to see her beaten just a neck. An uninterrupted run might well have seen her gain a second win, but now she is deserving of a break after five really good outings on the spin. There is every hope and the firm prospect for her to strengthen up and return to the winners enclosure next season.
