Phoenix Moon flies home for a very close third at Wolverhampton
Returning in great shape after a five week break since her last race, Phoenix Moon returned to action for her first outing under lights and her first run around the Dunstall Park circuit. Carrying bottom weight under Tyler Heard in a field of eleven, she was first loaded and had to wait an age in the stalls. Unsurprisingly she was half a stride slow in the break and so had to race behind horses in seventh or eighth place, but she travelled and settled well in her running for Tyler. Obliged to swing around a little wide on the bend, she was soon straightened up and balanced for a strong charge home. She finished very well indeed to be closing rapidly on the leaders, and at the post she missed out on second by a nose and was just a length from winning again. It is clear that she acts very well on the tapeta surface - and she has won on polytrack too - so the prospect of a longer straight over six or seven furlongs is tempting, but Denis has many options to weigh up to see what is on the cards next time. Tyler Heard was very pleased with her, racing differently this time but retaining her speed and willingness to go past rivals to very good effect and the feeling that she might stay up to a mile. Keeper's 12 syndicate were delighted with the run and once again have a winning horse on their hands !
