It was a busy day for the yard on Saturday, with two runners heading to Windsor and two down to Salisbury for evening race meetings. Barry's Boy got the quartet off to the best possible start in the opening race at Windsor, under an assertive ride from George Bass. Kicking for home in the first part of the straight to take the lead, Barry's Boy held on right through the final furlong to prevail by a short head at the line, much to the delight of owner Simon Pollard whose three year old Invincible Army gelding had shown real promise in competitive events at Haydock and Doncaster previously.

In the last race on the card Sweet Sister showed that now is the time to switch up to ten furlongs, as she wasn't able to get involved with the principals in her race and she will hopefully benefit from the extra distance.

Down at Salisbury Ridgeway Redwing really didn't settle at all throughout the first half of her seven furlong contest, running much too freely and wanting a faster tempo, so that she will now go back to race over six furlongs. Up the hill she faded to finish at the back of the field, and if she can settle better she will have a chance to show her talent next time over a shorter trip. Connie Moon got caught at the back of the field in a very steadily run race, so she wasn't able to pick up when the leaders kicked away in front of her. If she can run behind a faster paced race she will be seen to much better effect next time.
