Eagles Dare finishes at the back of a small field
At Lingfield Park yesterday evening Eagles Dare's race was run not at all to suit him, and it was always going to be a very tall order in a 0-75 handicap with all four of his opponents winning last time out and appearing to be very progressive handicappers. The short price favourite dominated the race from the front and set a very steady gallop, stretching away into a sprint through the last quarter mile or so. This tempo didn't play to Eagles Dare's stamina at all, so a return to the plan to see him race on turf - over a stiffer mile and a half or perhaps up to a 1m 6f race - should see him much more competitive next time out.
